hey there, I am a newbie at this stuff and i am getting ready to build my terrarium. I still live at home with my parents and if I got caught doing this I would be in deep shit so I have to hide them in the back of my closet, so i can't really use sun light. So would it be ok to use artificial light and if it is what kind of light bulbs would be best. Thanx!

from what i have read on the subject, artificial light is just fine. You want to buy a bulb with a wide spectrum of light; many of the fluorescent lights are now advertising the bulb spectrum these days, choose one that has light output in the 350-420 nm range (apparently cubies like the blue light).

On a different rant, you ought to think twice about growing in your folks house. The cops, feds, and DEA could come down pretty hard on your parents. IMHO if you can't do the time (on your own) don't do the crime! (but don't listen to me; I am an idiot) :)

What my friend does is set the cakes/ terrarium on her dresser every night when her parents go to bed. This gives them about an hour of light a day, which is enough. Any light is fine, as long as it isn't giving off a lot of heat.
