In the western, mountainous portion of the state... forget it.

Near the cost, you might find them.

The best thing to do, would be to find you some cow fields, go talk to the owners, and go hunting. But, not without reading up on species you might come across first.
The best times are spring and fall, with fall being better.
We've had a very mild winter, so maybe the spring will yield a little better this year.?.

I'm not saying you'll find them. Just giving you a starting place.
I just can't immagine that no species of interest grow there.
And learn how to identify your "snacks", this can be a deadly sport.

:peace:

II have found them in the piedmont region and one in S. Western Carolina right on the bordre between NC/SC (damn near it anyway). Plenty of finds on the coast but this has been a rather bad season for everything here but the weather patterns are consistent this far with a good season comming up- I'm stoked- but by then I'll be in Greenville again. Good luck! Be prepared to fail- I usually do.

Well, that pretty much rules out wild PCs for you, unless you find horse dung more palatable. You may want to look into cultivation.

Unless you know a whole hell of a lot more than you say, stay out of the woods.

Well if it isn't good to be back at the shroomery (and not incarcerated!). Anyway- hoping everyone in NC has an outstanding season this year and we can get something on the boards in the way of real pics. Planning a trip to Outer Banks this summer- will be taking the LOOOOONNNG way. Peace and PM me for hunting when weather greatly improves!
