A friend of mine cased about a week ago and no sign of mcyo. He used the 50/50 tek. Think i should add more water or what. Its been over a week and im starting to think that nothings goin to happen. Any tips??

how thick is the top layer of the casing, and what is the temp its at

about i wanna say 1/4 inch. The bottom is packed down tight then theres 1 qt of popcorn then about 1/4 of virmaculite. And no signs of growth what so ever. he can smell the fungus but cant see no myco

What temperature is your incubator running at? Some casings can take a little over a week to colonize. You shouldn't pack your casing layers!

seems like its gotta be a temp thing, everything else should be fine IMO

he just packed the bottom layer. The temp is about 69. Does the myco colonize the bottom layer and the top as well??

Oh, okay, that should be fine then. Casings are used more as a water reservoir and to provide the substrate with a humid microclimate. You need to increase your temperature about 15 degrees.

Depending on your casing, the mycelium will sometimes colonize the bottom as well...but not with just vermiculite.

yeah put it back at incubating temps 80-85 til you see myc poke through
