How do these mushrooms look?

So i went back to my terrarium after being away for a little more than 24 hours and when i came back for a spraying/fanning there was a nice surprise waiting. Alot of the mushrooms were fully grown. A few of them dont look to healthy though and i was hoping for some input on whether or not they are safe to eat. why does one look like somebody already took a bite out of it, and is the dark colouring a contamination?

So i dont have to worry about the half eaten cap or the black coloring on the caps? Then tonight should be a pretty good night. I noticed the mycelium is creeping up the bottom of the mushroom stem, should i cut that off or just eat mycelium and all? (this is my first grow/first flush)

Yeah, they all look fine to eat. As far as the creeping mycelium, just crop it down to the cake. Mushrooms are a form of mycelium, so it's definitely safe to eat.

the dark stuff is either spores or caps that are too wet. They are fine. If they are spores you will be able to wipe them off with your finger

Its great to know they aren't contam'd, now i wont have to worry after every bite i take I know its been asked before and nobody is really sure but does anybody know what type of mushrooms they are? Its the Yosterizii strain from the keeper and i hate the fact that i grew them and now im eating them and i still dont even know what type of mushrooms they really are.

I couldn't really tell you what strain for sure. More likely an Equadorian than a Yosterizii, though. I think that Dr. Yoster's new strain was released just a couple of weeks ago.

The one that looks like someone has eaten a bite from it is probably just a mutant. It's pretty normal to have them mutate on ya now and then. It's healthy and safe to eat regardless.
-------------------- Excerpt from one of my textbooks: Therefore, between a then and its matching else, there cannot be an if statement without an else. Statements must be distinguished between those that are matched and those that are unmatched, where unmatched statements are else-less ifs and all other statements are matched. I wonder if that would make more sense if I was tripping when I read it.

if its your first grow does it really matter what type it is???? be thankful you got some. Learn from your mistakes and figure out how you can do it better next time. Good job!

Those are fine. Perfectly done for a first grow.
On your next flush. Try dunk and roll. You will see a increase in yield.

they look good. the caps will always get dark IME if you let the spores drop. the small mushrooms are black because they are aborted, dont forget to pick them off before they start rotting.

I dunked and cold shocked after birthing but only rolled one. What i noticed is that the rolled one had the largest shroom, but it had significantly less overall than the rest of the cakes did. When the first flush was done i noticed it was hard to remove all the mushroom stem without digging into the cake a bit. I wanted to remove anything that wasn't mycelium and I found it very difficult to do without gouging the cake. Will that cause contamination? What should I do next time to not ruin the cakes?
And the total yeild from the cakes was 150grams, so about 30 grams each cake which wasn't so bad but I ate 30 grams the day I picked them and felt absolutely nothing, neither did the other two people that also had 30 grams so that 150 grams must have been more than the usual 92% water.
