drying shrooms with damp-rid
    #380632 - 08/28/01 11:04 AM (22 years, 1 month ago)

i opened my shrooms that are inside the tray of my damp rid, and they feel much more moist then when i put them in. They had been fan dried for 24 hours before being put in the damp rid. Is this normal? Do they normally get more wet before they get dry with this substance?

I just started drying my shrooms w/ Damp Rid for the first time too. Mine started shrivelling up right a way. I put them in the container immediately after picking, though.

Also, make sure the shrooms aren't touching the Damp Rid, and make sure that the container is completely air tight.

hope this helps...

DOnt forget when the damp rid gets saturated you must drain it, else the damp rid cant suck any more water

they may feel more moist because the moisture is being pulled to the surface from inside, before evaporting

Thank you, I feel much better. They seemed 80% dry before i put them in, so it was really odd when i opened them to check out the dryness and they were all moist. I couldn't find reference to this in any of the drying teks so i fee lots better

If you have a system like what is mostly described on different popular sites, you don't really need to change your damp-rid often because all the water is draining to the bottom and the damp-rid is still effective.

I agree with makedrugsfree. jsut pull out any big chuncks that get glued togetehr. you will see what i mean when that happens. Mix the damp rid up a bit so the dry stuff in the middle is more on the top. and it should be good for a long time.

I didnt mean drain out the damp rid...i meant drain the water out...maybe if his shrooms wernt drying it was cuz his damp rid was soaked..even if you use a water resivior i think it would still be good to drain that water.....although i agree with the mighty knight...
