Hey, if i were to find some cyans this fall, is there any way to spread the spores into an area closer to my house?? I heard someone say that they took some spore prints, cut them up in little peices and burried it in their lawn and it worked, allthough it was for pann. subbs, would it work for cyans? and what are other possible ways? thanks =]

I've taken the advice of some and grabbed a handful of mycelium from a Cyan patch and then brought it back to my property and buried it under a Doug Fir. That was last year, so come season..................we'll see if it works. A few have taken spore prints and design patches of their own with Ps. azurescens. If you look in the Archives for the Advanced Mushroom Cultivation section, you may find these. Although the pics may not be available still. Hope I helped, OJ. Stay cool and outta trouble!-Levi7.

It is possible to create a cyan patch at you house. Woodsman would be the best man to answer this question as he is cultivation master of our outdoor pacnorthwest species. I think the key for this is alder mulch which is what cyans fruit from. I also remember using cardboard as a top layer or something, i think it holds in moisture and is also easily colonized by the cyan mycelium.

I think Cardboard meant "Workman" is the cultivation master, 'cause I sure ain't one! I did have one successful experiment transplanting mycelia, when there was a massive fruiting in a local park. Me & a friend went up to the Rhodie beds right after dawn, for several mornings, & dug up several fruit crates of mycelia-infested mulch which we transplanted to a similar habitat in her backyard. They spread & fruited there for a couple years afterwards, then she sold the house so I have no idea if the new owners appreciate what grows beneath their shrubs. P.S. This approach is NOT recommended. It is probably ILLEGAL to steal soil from a municipal park ;^)
