Okay, so I'm going to move to Asheville soon (hopefully March). Anyone here live there? Or had any good experiences? Good restaraunts, good venues, best record store, anything like that? Just trying to get a feel for this wonderful town. PM if you want. Peace!

Yes, Asheville, North Carolina. Not Nasheville, Tennessee.
I've actually only been there twice, but I've heard about a million good things. People who know me say "Oh, you would love Asheville!" Main reasons for picking the 'Ville: -It's surrounded by mountains -There's a multitude of organic farms and vegetarian restaraunts -Lots and lots of artists and creative individuals -Good climate -I just feel drawn to the place (seriously, though)
There are a couple cons, though: -We (my gf and i) don't know anybody at all -I've heard that the economic opportunities aren't so good (no jobs) -I'm not sure I like hippies that much
Thanks for the comments, everybody. Peace!

Asheville is a pretty chill town. I lived and went to school in Boone for a few years and live in Charlotte now (unfortunately). The Orange Peel ( http://www.theorangepeel.net ) is a pretty great concert venue, lots of national tours and some good local artists.
like someone said, there are plenty of things to do there and several organic farms/veg(etari)an restaurants, local crafts malls and community owned stores (very little corporate involvement), some decent bars I hear, college scene with UNC-Asheville and also the cool kids from Warren Wilson College (check it out sometime - help them farm some, you'll meet some really chill people), etc. Asheville is a great place, but I was always more partial to Boone since it's smaller and more personal (King St. not the part that's becoming so commercialized) and also because all my friends live in Boone.
man, I need to get back to The High Country. *sniff*

I've also heard good things about Boone, but it's a little too small for my preferences. I'm coming from Atlanta, so I've become accustomed to city life. And I need my live music fix every once in a while. Hopefully at some point I will be able to take some classes at Penland and further my glass skills. Look out NC, here I come!
