Increaseing the Pressure
    #3803371 - 02/19/05 01:31 PM (19 years, 1 month ago)

My jars haven't been working, to well lately i think the cheap ass pressure Gage from walmart is a little to light. Yeah it says its 15psi, but i wanna increase the psi, Does the PC weight have to weigh 15lbs to get 15psi, whats the ratio if not, I'm gonna attach a sinker or 2 to it to get the psi up a little. The weight i have know is a sphere, how much do those cylinder ones weigh?

i apologize for the post that was here... i know the weight you are talking about.. a rule of thumb is if you put a drop of water on the pc while going, it will boil up violently real quick if its at sufficient pressure

Please, post what happens while you have time on your hands in the hospital. :smirk:

This idea is one that, if it happened around here it would be proceeded by the words "Hay y'all, watch this!"

OK then how do you increase the pressure, Please do not post anything trying to discourage me from doing this, i do not value my own life or any one Else's,J/k but seriously my cooker doesn't work to its full potential.

You do not need to increase the pressure, just increase the pc'ing time.
How in the world could you possibly know that your pressure cooker that says is at 15psi isn't really at 15psi?
Just cuz it's cheap and from wally world doesn't mean that it isn't working correctly.
I would highly recommend against trying to increase the pressure in your pc, especially if it is cheap, it won't be able to handle it. I'm sorry but this sounds like Darwin award waiting to happen.

Ha HA gotta love the Darwin awards, Should have wrote this in original post but i swapped the stem and weight off one cooker and put it on another, because a bitch on eBay screwed me over with a broke presto cooker that you cant get replacement parts for, i sealed up one of the spair holes with a rubber pug, now that i think of it that could be the problem, it leaks a little bit. some one said on here that even if it leaks a little bit if the weights a jingling then its at 15psi. Is this true or was i mislead?
