Im going out to get one today. I am trying to decide which one to get.

its in between the Magellen Explorist 200 and the Garmin Etrex Legend.

Any of you know of or notice any postive or negative differences from one to the other?

I ended up with the eXplorist 300. It is amazing. I am really pleased with the mapping feature. The 200 is like the 300, but the 300 has an altimeter and a barometer/thermometer.

Let us know how you like the 300 after you've used it a bit.  I've been considering getting a GPS also.  I can use a map and compass (I am an Eagle Scout after all) but a GPS is just so much more fun!  And with all the places I go there is no reason I shouldn't be looking for some cool geocahes at the same time.

me too.

scouting got me into camping. scouts are a great organization. it is unfortunate that kids have to go through so much bullshit from their peers if they belong to the organization.

Yeah, scouting was a great thing for me.  I learned a lot and had some great times.  Every kid should have those experiences!

When I was in my early 20's I went through a 'scooter phase'.  My Eagles Scout memorabilia became decoration on my flight jacket.

And my friends said that this was the best modification ever of an Eagle Scout pin!
