Cactus ID (pictures)

During my trip to Holland 2 years ago, I`v bought myself a cactus in a grow/smart shop. All they told me about it was that its 14 years old and ready to eat - and it`s portion for one person - maybe two.
They were selling small young peyote cactusses too, but 7 years of waiting were required and I knew that other cactuses contain mescaline too so I bought this one. They didn`t know latin name of it. So now I`v got this unknown cacti and I don`t trust some people in growshop in Holland completly - it`s my health, right? So, 1 year ago, I`v borrowed digital cam. and finally made some pics of my little plant. It wasnt identified and I have visited two separate forums. I hope someone here can help me to identify it, now I made new better pictures and it look a bit different. Oh yeah, I`v checked on erowind and some pictures of some less known cact. look a bit like mine, but not quite, so I still dont know... Here goes...
this is pic from 2 years ago, cactus is 4 - 5 inches tall:

and new one from last week, its 13 inch tall now:

also from last week, really big closeups of spikes:

I would really love to finally id this cactus, and eat it or keep it but to know! Thanx for all your time and input.

Uh, as far as I know those aren't Trichs. Doubt they're psychoactive.

Hello
that is a Cereus jamacaru, not active. Certainly not 14 years old, you have been told terrible lies. I'd boycott that place.

he probably meant Cereus peruvianus, which is what that cactus looks like to me.
rootstock = it's a good cactus to graft something onto. he's right. cp is a great for that. it's also great just to enjoy having it around.

Cereus jamacaru (mandacaru), peruvianus is different. Grows 10m in nature, the branches can get 14 inches thick. Starts out blueish but turns green with age. Seven to nine radial spines, central spines can grow up to 5 inches! Big flowers..
I have good pictures in my ID books, the google pictures are a bit dodge. heres the closest

Sad to hear that some smartshops are scammming their customers like this. Everyone should go to the better known, well reputed smartshops. Even if it might cost you a few extra euro's/$'s/guilders or whatever type of currency one uses. My favorate smart shop has always been "Conscious Dreams".
