I am completely new at this. I have vermiculite, perlite, and two spore syringes. I was wondering if: a glove box is better than using the open oven tek. Also what are the basic needs of a terrarium. I want to get one with a solid color and a clear lid...anything else? Also could anyone elaborate on what casing is, I was just going to put the cakes in the terrarium. Anyone in philly no where to get 1/2 pint jars?

the 20 gallon terreriums are the best, large rubbermaid storage units also work. the less cramp the terrerium is the less you have to worry about co2 (airing it out). i suggest you paint the inside of your terrerium black. this way all the shrooms will face upward. what kinda spores did you get? if i were you i would do the simple vermiculite caseing tek, a little on the bottom, sterilize, crumble cakes, a little on top. thats the way me and my friends do it. give me a pm if you have any specific questions.

cool, and let me be the first one to say welcome to the wide world of mycology, i am guessing you got the syringes from p. fanaticus too, right? those strains were the first two i order when i started. i bought two because of the minimum purchess requirement so after looking at the sample pics of the strains you though to yourself...."i want the syringe that gives you big shrooms"...after seeing that large shroom that fanaticus produced and put on the sample pic for the hawaiian. am i right? or am i completely wrong?
