Psilocybe cyanescens (Astoria Ossip) Grow Log

Just about every year at this time, I start to get excited about whatever it is I will be growing in the spring. This year, it's mushrooms. I've grown many things, but never mushrooms, so I'm quite excited by the prospect. I'm writing this grow log for two main reasons: 1) As far as I know, what I am planning on doing is a little unusual so I thought this might be a good contribution. 2) I'm not very experienced, so I'm likely to screw this up without a little help.

Basically, my plan is to grow a large amount of Psilocybe Cyanescens mycelium in the next few months, and plant it outside in a garden come spring time. If all goes well I should have a highly productive mushroom garden for several years to come. It seems to me that Psilocybe Cyanescens is a somewhat strange choice for cultivation, but I chose it for its frost hardiness, and the fact that its favorite food (wood) is widely available in the woods where I will be growing.

So far, my grow is still in the planning stages. The main/only reason for this is that I haven?t been able to find any Psilocybe Cyanescens spores. I?ve tried many sources, so I?m beginning to think that my choice is a little rare. If anyone would like to see the next installment of this grow log sooner rather than later you could PM me about this subject.


Anyhow? Here is a little more detail about my plan, but weather or not the actual grow unfolds anything like this remains to be seen.

1) 10 large spawn bags will be prepared using the method outlined at: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat...true#Post562556
The only difference should be that my pressure cooker is a 32 Qt model, so my bags will be quite a bit bigger, and I will be using a wood substrate.

2) The bags will be stored in a dark place until they can be planted outside (early May)

3) The place that has been selected for a garden is a 10? x 8? square in the middle of the woods that I used to grow something else last year. The spot was to shady and wet for that plant, so I hope it will be perfect for this. This spot has a very cool feature in that the water table is only 8? below ground, yet it is not swampy. The soil is always moist, never wet.

4) Wait for an overwhelming fall harvest.


I think that?s all I have to say for now, but I?d appreciate any feedback.

get your spores from www.sporeworks.com and grow ps azurescens, which you might know as ps cyans astoria ossip.

yeh man, I wanted to test my sig so I thought I'd do it on an old post in case it blew. Luckily the pic in the sig does do justice to my art which is representing a salvia trip of mine where the side of my skull ripped open, spilling out the illusions of my ego onto the floor for the 5th dimension entities to laugh hysterically at. After I experienced what my feeble mind could only perceive as Death and rebirth, I came too no longer an atheist. What can I say... It was quite humbling.

You could have tested it on a new post, and if it blew, you could have changed it in a matter of seconds.
No one woulda cared.

Plus is 3:30am where I am.
Most people who are on right no are either high, drunk or trolling.
