I don't serve the pie, salad or soup. I tell anyone who asks to order anything deep fried or cooked to order on the grill.

I most definately would be thinking twice about eating at that place... Assuming it's in an area where they are forced to post the health-inspector's ratings (don't tell me that place got an A?).

How could it get any better?

You eat at places like this more then you think. I use to install Point Of Sale systems at restaurants.. Dead rats in the ceiling was the norm. It ruined a lot of places for me to eat.
I would say 75% of all places have something like those pictures.

It's disgusting, but true, mind of matter most of the time, if you don't know about it, chances are you'll be ok. I had a friend a long time ago who's dad was an exterminator, so I heard all kinds of stories.

duuuude I LOVED those Point-of-sale systems!
haha I don't know if you knew how to actually enter orders or if you just installed the hardware... but this restaurant I worked at installed a POS system and the owners had NO computer knowledge, and were too cheap to pay the computer people to set up the ordering pages... so they made the mistake of letting me nose around and set up everything.
that's where I found the glitch.
see... for those who are reading this and don't know- when you go to a restuarant, your are what's considered a 'seat'... there are so many 'seats' (or 'covers') per table.
so say a group of 5 snotty-ass bitches from an office come in for their lunch. you know they're not gonna tip and each of them are on a seperate ticket and each one orders a diet coke with their 2-pound burrito. Here's what I did.
in order for a ticket to register, it MUST have a drink order. Pop is 1.50 -water is 0.00. I simply put in everyone's order, but instead of entering 5 pops i enter 1 pop and 4 waters. then when I print off the tickets one at a time and I change the 'seat' on the pop so each ticket prints a pop. they pay what they know is right. when i go to totally cash out the table, it only recognizes 1 pop, so I can pocket the money for the other 4. Doesn't sound like a lot, but if you think about it, when you wait on 50 people a day and only 1 out of every 5 pay for their pop that's an additional $60- on top of your regular tips.
this method is literally impossible to track with a paper trail, at least with the system they had. when most people steal they try to take out money that was accounted for at some time. You can't steal money that never 'existed' in the first place... plus this is impossible to track inventory wise since 99% of restaurants allow free pop to their employees and free refills- so they have no way of knowing how much pop is actually paid for and how much was freebies. plus a huge bag of syrup costs, like $12 and fills literally hundreds of glasses- pop is pure profit.
I didn't feel guilty.
steal from the rich give to the poor. and at the time the poor was me.

well....I think that they just needta cover their foods and spend 30 minutes on nightly cleanup and that would be a first class place.
