How long have you been surfing? Where did you learn? How long did it take you to get the hang of it? What kind of board do you use?

self taught on a long board at swami's in north county SD.

I've got shorts and longs and really longs.

one good rule of thumb to remember:

if you don't surf, don't start.

All I know is The Growery is a place where losers who get banned here go.

Depends where you live.
I live on the west coast of BC where the water's fuckin cold. Everyone wears 5mm full wetsuits. You dont, you've gonna having some limbs not working liek they suppose to. Most beginners start on longboards, and eventually work their way to shorter boards. But it also depends on what kinda riding you wanna do. Dudes out here rip it all day on their longboards, and they wouldnt hang em up at all. Its all up to you what kinda riding, but like I said, for a newbie, longs are fairly easy to learn on.
Personally, I like a board around 7'3", 7'5". Not a shortie, but by no means a longer either.

If you dont know where you're going, any road will take you there.
