What is the water to dextrose ratio for this tek?

Never heard if this tek.

Can YOU thrive healthy on dextrose only?

Ok,here's the deal.
This is what i have come with.
Instead of using karo, honey or light colored malt extract-i will use straight dextrose.

Myself?No,i highly doubt it.

So what your trying to say is using straight dextrose won't work for liquid culture ?

It might support growth to some extent, but it is not what the fungus likes. Pure dextrose is just that, pure dextrose. Mycelium needs dozens if not hundreds of other nutrients along with this.

well have some dextrose laying around and will try it soon for a liquid culture.
You could try a teaspoon to 100 ml water or prolly a bit less then that.
Potato flour + dextrose and water also is a good liquid medium you could also use it in agar potato dextrose agar is widly used.

it's been over a year since i did any liquid mycelium work. the last time i used this was to make a jar of psilocybe cyanofibrillosa solution for theshiftingwalls.

i'm not certain, but i think i was using a 500:10 water/dextrose solution.
you might want to try a small batch first to make sure that is the right ratio.

I have found that pure dextrose (USP grade) alone will both germinate & nurture myc along in solution. However, the culture doesn?t thrive & after a short while, it will stall out.

A mix of various ingredients will make it THRIVE & will form thick islands on the surface & begin to climb the interior wall of the container. I don?t doubt, it would fruit out invitro, off the surface - given some support.

For the hell of it, next batch, in a wide mouth gallon glass container, I am going to float an inch thick round polyester pad (the interior diameter of the jar with some PP foam embedded as floatation) as a support platform for the myc & see if I can actually get it to fruit off the platform.

LOL, hydroponic shrooms.

agar,
Just a random off topic question. Are people using straight tyvek as a lid. i had 2 jars infect that had tyvek held on with a ring. like this

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

Straight tyvek will wick contams, if it gets wet from nute solution on its underside.

Best to build a few plastic or metal lids, with rubber tubing through the lid, cemented in with RTV high temp silicone gasket maker from auto parts store.

Then stuff polyfil in the ends, as a filter material. Great thing about rubber tubing is: you can pinch it closed & agitate hell out of jar, without getting filter material wet.

Also makes it easy to extract solution, remove polyfil, insert syringe, tip jar on side, pull syringe plunger back - filling syringe. Remove syringe, dip polyfil in alc, sqeeze so it doesnt drip & re/insert in tubing.

i should have been more specific. by 500:10, i meant 500ml of water with 10 grams of dextrose mixed in.
