you want at least 600cfm, it also depends on the size of your filter. Buy your filter FIRST. Then get a blower to match it.

oh yeah, and make sure to rig up a rheostat (light dimmer) control to your blower so that you can tweek the speed for the perfect air flow.

24 in * 30 in = 5 square feet

This means you need a blower that outputs 500 cubic ft per minute at the static pressure of the filter for this flow.

then how is it that some filters that are 24"x24"x11.5" need 1200cfm blowers i think that you need to calculate the thickness too from what i know little

The filter is able to filter more air per minute than what calculated.
But for laminar flow you want a front air velocity of 100 ft per minute, thus 5 square feet filter area multiplied with 100 ft/min velocity gives you 500 ft/minute.

Here's an idea for you. Go to a hardware store and buy a bathroom fan. It comes with a case and will plug right into an electrical cord. stuff the opening with a filter of your choice. get some plastic tubing and run it off the back of the bathroom fan and into your flow hood. Cover up any cracks in the bathroom fan with duct tape. Now your done and you've only spent about 25$ and no creative thinking is required on how your going to mount your fan. Best of all is your blower fan is now portable for multiple applications.
