quicky question on casings?
    #3790698 - 02/16/05 08:01 PM (12 years, 3 months ago)

yo, im getting some spawn and i am plannin on casing it into some tubs and i was wondering as an alternative to the tried and true 50/50 casing mix what if i used worm castings, or some other pre bought compost(suggestions) would this increase yeilds or is this just a stupid ass idea?any response is greatly appreceated.

No nutes in casing, stick to 50/50+ ph buffer for casing material.

Worm castings and composts are both highly nutritive, and while they make good substrates they are poor choices for casing material.

yes, you can spawn compost with mycelium. You do not case it with compost though. You case it with 50/50 mix. You'd have to read the packages on the compost bags to make sure they contain no fungicides. Use the search function and some people mention some brands. Not many people use store bought poo.

use the verm with coco coir or peat moss in your casing
