end of science
    #3785131 - 02/15/05 06:50 PM (19 years, 1 month ago)

Do you think that human race will ever live long enough to learn all that there is to learn about the technicalities of universe? And how would this end of scientific research look like? What would our abilities be then? Would omnipotence be our end because of lack of motivation? In what form would we live?

Science slowly chips away at certain beliefs. As sometimes, beliefs and religion sometimes laugh back at Science. If man is to pursue on then there will come a merging of science and spirituality, testing beyond the bounds of the physical realm. We have already tinkered with some stuff, like lucid dreaming, there is a mask i posted about, which can induce lucid dreaming. Now, by merging of science and spirituality, I dont mean "christian science", I mean the cross point where all of physical and "rational" science has been explained, there will still be unanswered questions.

I don't think it is something we will accomplish.

how can wel learn all about something that is supposedly infinite?

how can we comprehend or even say something is infinite if when we can't experience this right now on our level?

in the future we could grow and even evolve, but we don't know now what will happen.

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

I don't believe there is a limit to knowledge. I feel the universe is limitless in dimension and possibility, this would lead to it beig impossible and absurd to having absolute truths.

oh shit kaiowas just posted that o well

if the universe was a perfect salt crystal, I could tell you the position of the 10^100+ ions with no more information than this sentence.

but anway before we worry about maxing out anything we will blow ourselves up

that's kinda how I picture it too, but one key aspect is uncertain: do you think of it as scientists surrounding a lump of Unknown, chipping away with pickaxes until there's none left, or as scientists trapped inside an air bubble in an endless expanse of Unknown, and chipping their air bubble bigger and bigger but with no end in sight?

Clever....    Seems like with this drastic of opposing directions, one answer would be an obvious conclusion....  I would also side with the latter....    If I was to guess....  Or would this be intuition....?

Science and society will eventually go hand in hand. One day, everyone will be a scientist. It will be a required lifestyle.

I suspect that the nature of the universe is beyond the human mind to comprehend. My friends dog can count to five, but will never be able to understand calculus.

I think the human mind will keep on evolving in order for it to better understand its surrounding. Will we ever completely grasp the nature of the universe? Sure, why not.

Well if we lived long enough, im a few million years, or tens of million years, our minds would become more complex, so have that in mind too.

p.s. Nobody answered the question about what do you think how will we exist them. Eternal bodies? Living inside computers? Or some form of live we can't imagine now? Could technology make us bodyless spirits that are everywhere at once, like god?

I've heard before that the way conscious beings evolve, in millions of years, is from living in the material realm to the spiritual one.

Maybe to live in the material realm is to figure out everything there is to figure out, until nothing is left to discover, until the only way we can evolve even more is to evolve spiritually.

I think spiritual and material realm are interconnected, and the strict line between the two is an illusion. The line perhapse exists only for the mind, but outside the mind there is no separation, just different layers of space in the microcosmos.

p.s. Perhapse no race is supose to figure out everything in the material component and gets "pulled out" before they do that.
It could all be some big game the universe is playing with its children.

Yes, from our point of view it is a lesson, but if you zoom out, the whole process of big bang, sentient life, civilisations, stars, explosions of supernovas, our development, could be all a big dream of the universal mind, imagination, playing imagine, a game.

I have a hunch that if humans live long enough, they will eventually cease to be recognizably human. I think maybe once we've spread out into the galaxy evolution will diverge on different planets. maybe we'll cease to be based on having physical bodies
