K-134, the drug I'm testing - clinical trial - (not a psychedelic) how to waste my time?

I participate in a clinical trial. It is the phase one for  K-134, an antiplatelet agent(against Arteriosclerosis).

I have already been in the clinic for 4 days. We sleep with four people in a room.  We took 100mg of K-134 the second day. They took blood samples, an ivy bleeding test, an ECG(electrocardiogram) and blood pressure every hour, everything has to happen right on time. They are very professional and I feel safe :smile:. I have to collect all my urine and bring it to the nurses. I had time to do what I want the other days. They took a blood sample, ECG and blood pressure every morning, but that was all. We get good food and we can watch films, surf the www, play pool and ping pong, study, talk, read, walk and sleep  :smirk:

We are not allowed to use any other drugs, so I had my first drug test :smile:

I'll go for 17 more days, starting Thursday. Then I will take 100mg K-134 every day and they will check my health twice a day. There will be one day with tests every hour and the other days are 'free'. I'm not allowed to leave the clinic though, so I will feel a little locked up.

I've not experienced any side effects yet and they don't expect any.

Too bad this isn't a psychedelic  :grin: but I still like the experience and the $. And it has to be done by someone....

How would you waste your time if you had to waste it?  :grin:

I just signed up for clinical trials of a drug I don't know of yet. They were looking for "recreational drug users" as subjects for the study. I think I fit the description :smirk:

Medical experimentation is a quick way to make some extra cash...

It's winter, fishing will be a little too cold for me.

Painting or drawing is a very good idea! I'm not good at it, but it's fun to do. Don't expect me to post my art :smile:

What does the drug do?

An antiplatelet drug is a member of a class of pharmaceuticals that decreases platelet aggregation and inhibits thrombus formation. They are effective in the arterial circulation, where anticoagulants have little effect.

They are widely used in primary and secondary prevention of thrombotic cerebrovascular or cardiovascular disease.


Medical experimentation is a quick way to make some extra cash...

I've always been rather curious on what kind of ca$h you make doing this. Seems like it SHOULD be a rather large amount considering it sounds extremely risky. It'd be quite a downer to lose 15 years of your life to one of these trials.

I don't get paid for the risk; it's not risk money. There is a certain risk, but I don't think it's that large. They started with a very low dose, they monitor all vital function of my body, the drug is already tested on animals, the drug is based on a very similar drug which is considered safe, they act very professional, they can't permit a few deaths or other damage to volunteers and physicians approved the trial. I think it's pretty safe.

Beside that they bought me a good insurance.

I'm allowed to go outside in a garden surrounded by a fence. I'm not allowed to go out of sight on my own because they don't want me to do any drugs or smoke a cigarette etc. We will make a few day trips with a few nurses holding an eye on us.
