Societies Rational
    #3782867 - 02/15/05 12:08 PM (11 years, 9 months ago)

My friend and I just had a very long conversation and this is what he explained to me:

When he was about 10 years old he was with 2 "friends".  1 of these "friends" was much older than my friend.

The older lad told my friend that if he didn't steal something with him then he was going to get beaten up.  But it grew like intimidation tactics and my 10 year old friend eventually gave in not wanting to be picked on or attacked.

After stealing the item, this older lad wanted, my friend was picked up by the police.  They intimidated him further telling him that they knew it was all his idea!  My friend started to lose faith in his superiors.

After this his family intimidated him and his teachers!  At this point he lost all faith in humanity because he realised he was the only one that knew the truth of the scenario where as everybody else instantly pigeon holed my friend into the BAD box.  He was judged before he even could tell any of the truth!!!

They jumped on the band wagon straight away thinking they knew it all.  These are still 'good' people though, teachers and his own family!  Deeming my friend a thief that needed punishing.

My point is, you may think you know everything about a scenario.  But when you realise the full truth you will see that you knew nothing of the scenario and judged it incorrectly!

When you think you know everything remember life isn't that simple.  There will always be infinate unseen angles/possibilities and this my friends is where many of us are being let down.

Stay open shroomers

Never leaving your room seems to be the only way.

That just shows how bad it is to judge people.

Jesus preached against being judgmental. I do as well. The world would be a better place without judgement.

One is always responsible for one's own actions. No one can force you to do anything.Ultimately you always choose whether or not to do something.

True but not the point here.

This about generalisation and judgement.  It goes much deeper than society would have you believe.  There are infinate angles to any one story.

Common logic in a theoretical situation:
Man killed = Man is threat to self = Result: Persecution.
But:
The man could of killed because he knew he was about to be killed by the deceased.  What would you do if you knew someone was about to shoot you but your have a split second decision to shoot them first and live?

Then you hear a rumor that the guy that lives in that house killed someone and what do you think.  You may think "I wouldn't kill anyone" but would you?

Society is wrong for boxing peoples situations into easily understandable units that do not provide a clear and complete picture.  All possibilities must be considered.  Let that replace your judgement.
