I don't know if one is better than the other. If you email Unicorn they will send you free samples. I've used both with good results.

I dont think there are many manufacturers of bags. I think all in all they come from the same place.

Unicorn does not sell retail. To order from them, you must buy Min 1000 bags + shipping.
I believe Unicorn makes the Myco's bags. Since they are identical, except the injection port, which I believe was a custon order to Unicorn from Myco.
The port is just hype anyway. If you use bags, beginning with spore injections, you simply innoc & tape over the hole. If you are anal, you can apply tape first, innoc though it & bag, then tape over the first tape (strenghens the innoc site).
Unicorn is best bag in the world, IMHO.

I have seen Mycobag explicity state that his bags are Unicorn bags. IINM ,there is no other large scale mushroom specific spawn bag manufacturuer in the States. Oh, and you have to order far more than 1000 bags to buy from Unicorn. They wouldn't even let me buy a one-time lot of 10K.

No way, I have to say unicorn bags and myco bags are different.
I have had small bags from mycobag and they were ordered from sporeworks(like the actual substrate bags) I ordered large bags from www.mycobag.com and they were the same plastic.
I got some small bags from some dood, I don't know where he got them, but they sure aren't the same bags from mycobag. They are a thicker plastic and the filter patch is different then the mycobags.
Ps. the mycobags are a thinner plastic then this other brand of bag, and the thicker plastic is way easier to work with as it does not lose form as much.

Nope. MycoBags are custom made by UNICORN BAG - for MycoBag.
Unicorn Bag (Lou) makes all differing types, for differing mushrooms, differing sorts of cultivation, differing size, filters, thickness, so-on-&-so-forth. Lou will also make custom bags - anyway you want. You just have to work it out, order in bulk & pay for them - in advance.

ahhh, that explains it. Well these bags are a thicker plastic and work way better than the standard mycobags because the bag keeps form while filling etc.

I can testify in Unicorn's behalf, I wrote them requesting some samples and they responded in a couple of hours saying they would send me their sampler packet. Now I'm worried by the comments about not being able to order smaller volumes, do you guys go through mycobags if you only need a hundred bags or so?

When I asked Unicorn bags for a sampler I mentioned I heard it on shroomery.org and they wrote me back an informative email I thought I'd pass along here. The link I referred them to was actually this thread...
Thanks for the link, very interesting site. We make all the bags they discussed there. Our minimum is 1,000 bags of any type. Not true that we refuse a 10,000 bag order. We cater to everyone, shmroom or gourmet, we are like the gun manufacturer, we do not care what people do with our products. However, our sales are 99.9% for gourmet mushrooms and bio-control fungus production. We let Sporeworks and Mycelium Fruits use our web site www.mycobag.com before they split up. Robert of Sporeworks very kindly and honestly returned the site back to us. Our websites are www.unicornbags.com and www.mycobags.com I will have www.mycobag and mycobags.com be forwarded to unicornbags.com shortly.
The only hang up I see is the 1000 bag limit, most of us here probably wouldn't be game to make such an investment. Would anyone else be interested in going in on an order or anything? Or better yet, does someone routinely order from then who would be willing to sell it batches of 100 or so? Just curious.
