Overlaid cakes - coldshock and roll or case?
    #3782429 - 02/15/05 09:05 AM (13 years, 3 months ago)

Due my air pump not working anywhere near to capacity (GRRR!!!) I now have 5 overlaid rye grain cakes (Golden Teachers if its relevant). In terms of redemption would it be better to make casings out of the cakes or to cold shock/ dunk and roll them in casing mix?

I'm erring more towards casing them, but really don't want to kill/ further maim any more of my children.

There is also a casing that has been slightly affected by overlay (surface is 70% mcycelium but is still pure white and fairly fluffy) would cold shock/ dunk be the best treatment for her?

rye grain is best cased or used as bulk spawn.

if the casing is fine, then just let it pin and grow.

are you misting them?

I didn't think i needed to mist - I have my air pump bubbling up through a 3inch covering of hydrotron (expanded clay pellets) covered with a 2inch layer of water (fulfilling their fresh air exchanges and humidity requirements.

Is this incorrect?
