U.S. Customs uses canines. The USPS does not to my knowledge. As long as your mail isn't crossing any international borders I wouldn't worry too much.

Belive it or not your better off using US mail than UPS. I have a friend who works there, he says they really don't look for things in domestic packages.
I've also heard of UPS and the US mailworking with the DEA in certain instances.
But those where huge drug rings going on for years

Just in case you may want to mail it in a turkey bag, i heard that works pretty good
