Someone Please Help

This is my first time growing and I am not clear on how to determine whether or not my jars are contaminated. I followed the directions on the Basic Growing Guide very specifically last weekend. A little over a week later i have dark spot at the inoculation sites on the sides of the jars. In some of these dark spots white is growing. I know that the guide said to throw out anything unsure of, but i want to make sure i am not wasting it because i am paranoid. Once again, the dark spots don't look fuzzy or fungus-like, but more like wetness from the inoculation. What colors would unwanted funguses be? should i throw these out and start over? i have no idea how i might have messed up. Please help...

i will not be able to post a picture until later tonight. I looked on the contamination forum but couldn't find anything that looked like it. Will the spore liquid leave a wetspot behind after squirting it into the jars. It has been 8 days.

Listen: Just wait about 2 more days roughly and you'll see for yourself. There's no harm in letting a jar get very contaminated as long as you are cautious when disposing of its contents.
The temps of your jars are important. Between 70 and 85 degrees would probably be good.
Remember: Try to use a pressure cooker when sterilizing your jars. Also make sure you are pretty accurate with the water/grain ratio.

Wait 2-4 days. If anything that isn't white grows at all, or it starts to stink, you know. You can always chuck it later.

Looks like it may be "wet spot" mold. You used way too many cc's of spore water in one area.
You'll have to wait 2 days roughly to know for sure. It will become very, very obvious in no time.

Looks like you shot too much juice into each inoculation spot, BUT, the mycelium looks healthy.
If the mycelium covers the darker areas in a few days, you'll be good to go.
Next time use just 1/4 of a cc per hole.

It only takes a few tiny drops of spore water to initiate mycelium growth. Too much spore water in one place simply creates a place where bacteria can thrive. The more jars you prepare the more you'll get into the process and fine tune it.

I'm not convinced those dark spots are from too much water. The substrate is already wet, so why would it get darker if you added more water? Doesn't make sense.

It may be wet spot mold. It may be mold. It may not be mold at all. It sure looks like wet spot mold though at this point.

just keep an eye on it, its weird that the only places it is, is around the myc. just take a peak at it every day and see if it gets bigger of not, and its not wet inside already, whoever said that, its just moist, there is a difference.

That has to be contam. The reason it's showing up around the inoculation points is probably because it wasn't a sterile inoculation, and contams were introduced at the inoculation points. Adding water to the normal BRF/verm/water mixture won't make it that much darker, no way. That is contamination. What were your sterilzation procedures when inoculating? Seems it's time to review them.
