wild print vs. domesticated
    #377957 - 08/24/01 04:51 PM (23 years, 5 months ago)

I posted this first in another forum
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=Contams&Number=377788&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=0&part=1#Post377955
but thought it might get some more interaction here.

Who out there has used wild spoer prints and what is your experience with them vs. domesticated strains? I have yet to create my first home-grown mushroom and am getting frustrated, but and hearing starting with a wild one is the hard way.
Feedback?

Domesticated prints can be 99% guarenteed sterile.

Wild prints don't usually produce well when brought indoors. Domesticated mushrooms have been "breed" until they grow better indoors and produce well.
