But hey, at least we have freedom of religion.  :nonono: I don't know how much longer I can stand the intolerance and lack of civil rights/liberties.

Well this relates strongly to the recent "Bush wants to disolve the NDIC" thread I think.

Ive been following this issue too, Dark_Star. Just as you said, "at least we have freedom of religion." It is so ironic that we think we're free when we're not. It is even more ironic that plants, vines, and fungi - made by the God "we trust" - are so utterly illegal that it is better to steal than drink a plant-based tea.

Yeah...they treat some drugs as though they are just as bad if not worse than rape and murder...meanwhile advertising ED drugs and sorts of anti-depressants every 5 minutes.  :mad2:

It's not like the Guv'mint is doing anything new here, c'mon.

They've got a long-standing position of blocking the use of drugs, be it for religious purposes or not.

Whether or not that's right is debatable, but it's nothing new or shocking.. it's merely another chapter of an ongoing story.

I don't hear many people in the government screaming about Christians faiths that push alcohol, a very dangerous drug, upon children... if my Rasta buddy cannot smoke Cannabis then the Christians should not be allowed to give out alcohol to anybody under 21 years of age. Play fair, or don't play at all.

Most of the time kids get juice, not wine..

biggest difference.. alcohol's legal, if you're of-age. marijuana, mushrooms, whatever's in this tea.. not legal for anybody.

not right, but that's basically why one's OK and the other's not. because they say so.

again.. I disagree with what they're doing. I simply don't see any reason to think this is any different than anything they've been doing in the past.
If they STOPPED doing things like this it would be news. This? Just another chapter in a shitty story.
more of a responce to the anti-gonzalez comments than anything else.

I'm a little rusty on Catholisism, but I know that the wine is supposed to be the blood of christ and the wafer is supposed to be the flesh?...is this correct? sounds a little cannabalistic to me...

Not sure which school/church you went to...but both in Catholic school and the Churches I've been to ALWAYS gave out real wine to the kids (of course, you have to be Confirmed first).

Rono: yes the wine is supposed to symbolize the blood that Christ spilled for us all, and the bread is supposed to symbolize his body, which he gave up in order to save us. It also has a great deal of connection to the Last Supper, where Christ supposedly broke bread and shared wine with his disciples.

you are correct, however it's used for representation only, not to be taken literally.. I loved it as a kid since I got to drink wine.

I understand that you're not literally drinking the blood of Christ...but even the insinuation that you are drinking human blood and eating human flesh sounds a little fucked up to me.

hell, what are you gonna do? I didn't make the rules, I'd consider putting your penor inside a alter boy a little more fucked up then communion.

> Most of the time kids get juice, not wine..

Most of the time is not all of the time... Catholic communion must have alcohol in it or it is not communion. Even people with deadly allergies to alcohol must risk their lives to share in the communion with the Catholic church.

My point is not about juice or wine, but that if one religion can break the law and give out a dangerous drug for the last 229 years then other religions should be allowed to give out "dangerous drugs" to their members as well. If we are going to outlaw it for one religion, the it must be outlawed for all religions, including Christianity.
