    #3778670 - 02/14/05 03:59 PM (13 years, 3 months ago)

Im in the middle of past straw in a tub useing water that im boiling and poring it in the tub which has normal hot tap water in it. However it wont go over 135f i even dumped in my pc full of boiling water which is 23q pc. So my question is i know it should be done at 160 to 180 but will 135 for part of the time work as long as i keep dumpin hot water in it tring to make it hotter cuz i dont want to spend all day doin it if it wont work.

Im tring to get it up past that but it just dont seem to want to lol its a pain in the ass. i know that it takes a temp of 104 to 106 to kill cube spores but i dont know about the bac and mold spores that would be in straw. Its the straw u get in the craft stores so it was def. good and dry so i hope that helps that it wasnt sittin out side at some farm gettin rained on and in the weather.

I would try to keep it closer to 160-170. Straw contaminates fairly easily if correct parameters are not met. Buy a BIG canning pot(WALLMART), use a pillow case and a meat thermometer. All the information you need is on The Shroomery.
Or you can always get some pre-pasteurized Horse Manure from me and not worry about it.

Im using a candy thermo. and i cant put it in a big pot cuz its a full pillow case of straw so it wont fit lol usually past it in my 23 q pc but im doin a lot more this time so it wont all go in there. I got it up to 140 now and still ading boiling water so hopefully it will get there. And i was checkin out your poo. I think i will be gettin some soon i want to try a poo salad for growing i want to use horse cow and worm poos with straw to see how that works sometime soon. So you will be hearin from me soon on that stud poo lol
