I believe in it because of the rush of chemicals and pounding heart I get whenever I think about her.

Love is a metaphysical notion overlayed onto normal biological function such as mating and protecting one's offspring.

"There is no greater love than a mother for her child."

Yeah, there is no greater primal programming is more like it. In humans we call this love and in the "lesser" animals we call it instinct. Whatever...

I call it love in the lower animals, but this does not mean that it isn't an instinct. Which reminds me, a lot of women call having sex 'making love' but that should never stop any self indulgent horn-dog from playing along.

Some say that conpetition between strangers is our instinct, hence the wars, capitlism etc. And some have love for strangers, which is like you say an instinct. So why are there two oposite instincts?
One tells you to take care of your own and screw others, the other one tells you to take care of people that mean nothing in your life.
does it make sense?

Making love and sex are not the same thing. Sex is a higher term, and making love is one of kinds of sex. It's usually sex spiced with feelings of attachment. It is a form of emotional trans which can even result in crying in some people.
I don't know if it has anything to do with real love, but it is definitivley different from that raw sex, or that cute-sweet sex
Making love is an overused word.

Love hmmm, whats that then?

If its compassionate action, then i do it and dont belive it.
If its an emotional attachment then it can only bring suffering in the end.
If its a biological or hormonal repsonse to stimuli, then its just as impermenant as my walking corspe.
If its taking pleasure in the qualities of another, then i can see the benefit.

What kind of love are we talking about here? There are many differnet types of love, all different in many ways? This topic is too vague.

What are the opposite instincts? Here is the bottom line: everyone acts in their own self-interest. There is no opposing view or instinct.

Because, as a female in a male-oriented board, your primary programming of flirtation took over.

Because this is a male oriented board, its probably best my femenine perspective on love making versus hot animal sex reply dissapeared anyway and just left my tongue sticking out.

In the pre-historical wild, both parties were highly vulnerable to attack when copulating, hence it was best to complete the act as quickly as possible. Now this is rarely the case, yet men still have the biological imperative for quickness and the function of procreation is still achieved.

So women "invented" love-making to get men to slow-down to allow them the time to find pleasure and achieve orgasm in the act. Women in general will tell you this is "more spiritual", but it is basically selfish - and there is nothing wrong with that! Just don't go assigning special meaning to the act because it takes 30 minutes instead of 3 minutes.
