Liquid Karo Lids
    #3778306 - 02/14/05 10:54 AM (19 years, 1 month ago)

I have no polyfil for a liquid culture, but I DO have plenty of Tyvek laying around. I've been thinking about buying an injector port lid, but I have 4 spore syringes laying around and I want to put them to good use.

I really dont want to go out and buy polyfil, but I will if I have to. I have quart jars and a couple 1/2 pints. Can anyone tell me if they've had any success using tyvek lids on liquid cultures? Also, would using a micron magick filter lid work even better?

grazie

For liquid cultures I Use a normal lid with no holes! It works fine.

i dont feel safe with polyfil. its not being held in by anything. Plus, I cant shake the jar for fear of getting the polyfil wet.

I know agar posted a thread about putting two lids together and housing a piece of tyvek between the lids. He used this for g2g. I wonder if it would work for liquid cultures.

Put a hole in the lid and fill it with high temp silicon (Auto parts store) when dry you have a self sealing injection point.
