Question about DMT

A couple of weeks ago I was flipping through a Biochemistry text book and was somewhat suprised to learn that DMT is one of the primary chemicals used in synthetic DNA elongation. I read the section of the text book that covered synthetic DNA elongation but it never really went beyond the fact that DMT is used. Does any one know how this process works and/or if the DMT used in this process is regular DMT or if it is some form of DMT with a different chemical group or form. Any info would be great. Thanks.

Sorry, I don't know anythig about this process, but if you change a chemical group, or the from of DMT it is no longer DMT.

dmt occurs naturally in the body produced by the pineal
gland i believe.

The DMT that your book is talking about is dimethoxytrityl, the DMT physchedelic is dimethyltryptamine. The only relation between the two is that they both contain two methyl groups. The share no other properties.
