The Red Tide Is Back Again this winter.....cough...cough
    #3776173 - 02/13/05 11:20 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

Last week someone come in off a boat & told us there was a red tide bloom about 50 miles out & as usual it was going to suround the island, it is an alge, and depletes the water of oxygen, it kills the fish & they wash up on the beaches, and stink & their skeletons prick your feet in the sand for months after.
When the wind kicks up the alge become airborne, everyone coughs alot, they closed the resturant early the other night, i have had to wear a mask to be able to breath. It has been this bad the last three winters.

You should harvest it and make biodiesel out of it.

It also sucks how the red tide kills sea cows. Sea cows are very beautiful and peaceful, although not too smart. I like them anyway. There was a story about it on Daily Planet.

manaites are dieing again, it was on the news yesterday, the red tide is in ,full bloom here on the island, this year the water shows the color a lil, kinda of a yellow tinge, at about 2 to 3 pm the wind shifts & comes from out at sea, the alge becomes airborne & everyone has to wear a mask for breathing
