Adobe Premiere!?!?
    #3773769 - 02/13/05 12:08 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

I am using Adobe Premiere 5.0 to join together short mpeg clips that I have recorded with my digital camera...the whole film comes to about 6 minutes long.

When I playback the sequence of mpegs i have put together in the timeline it plays back very jerky and does not play smoothly.....I can open the same mpegs in Windows Media Player and they play smooth....but not in Premiere...I spent 6 hours exporting the mpegs to an AVI hoping that once it is exported it might play smoothly...but it didn't.

I have even just tried exporting the audio to see what that is like and even the audio on its own plays back jerky...and jerks in exactly the same places as it does when I export the video too.

I have 256mb RAM...

Does anyone have any idea what I might be doing wrong? or is my computer just too lame?

Any advice would be much much appreciated,

Get More RAM. 256MB on Windows (hahaha, because you're already well into the pagefile [which is sloooooow] after you log in) is not good for video editing.

yeah, if you want to play with video, you definelty need more ram. try to install that max ram possible on your comp when you work with graphics, music and video.
