...to operate a broom or shovel? Or to do selective interior demolition in an occupied courthouse or hospital without making any noise or dust? Carrying bricks?? Or taking out a load bearing wall without causing structure failure...Depends.

Well shit, for the starting wage you said I thought it was a skilled job. I can do that stuff. I worked as a laborer at a factory, laborer in construction, and installed hardwood floor. Am I hired?

Very true, have thought about this a lot when trippin

"What difference would it make if I died now or in 20 years?"

My death could affect many people, but to me any moment is as good as the next to die.

Man ,I think you should quit that job and start working as a comedian.  Seriously, your whole post made me laugh hard.  Well written, too.

But damn, $8 an hour?  You could earn that bagging groceries.  Shit ,you could make more delivering pizza.  That's real lame that your temp agency skims so much.  I do the temp thing and I've never heard of such selfishness.  Maybe it's not worth your time and risk?  But hey, ican relate to how you feel -- If you're disintegrated by liquid fucking magma maybe it is your day. :sun:

Be careful!

This of it this way. You are fortunate to have a job. People all around the world would kill you if they had the chance just so they could have your job. Also foundries have been around FOREVER, how do you think all the cool Egyptian and Greek bronze sculpture came to be? By taking chances my friend! Appreciate what life gives you the chance to do.

Hey everyone,
I wasnt really completly complaining, rather just pointing out the facts of life in my new found job. I actually sort of enjoy it, it gives me a good work out and I get to learn a skill that I bet I could use just about anywhere. But at the same time it's the only option I have. I cannot move, the reason that I moved out here was to take care of my Mother after she suffered a heart attack with subsequent 3x bypass.

The accidents dont happen all the time, I mean they happen but the big ones apparently happen at other plants in other cities in other states. The stuff I was pointing out was stuff that could happen especially if you are not careful.

So looks like being hammered on the job is out. :frown:

I worked the melt deck / pressure pour today and man it's hard work but it's not that dangerous if you just BE DAMN careful and aware of everything going on around you. Hopefully the temp agency will let me go and the job will sign me on. Then I would be making more $.

Thanks for all your support and concerns. And I am glad that I could make you laugh EvilEye......me, able to die on the job....funny...har har har - Just kidding.

-PS.

Keep that attitude and you'll keep your skin.

I've done some dangerous jobs but never for the shit money you are making. Learn from it,get hard. Then get a better job.
