Quart size jars
    #3772959 - 02/13/05 02:21 AM (19 years, 1 month ago)

OK my last post was cry for help. I want to use quart size jars, but I think the would take forever without a massive dose of spores or myc tissue. Will using alot of spores help speed up colonization of the cake? Can I use the PT tek with quart jars?

Wide mouth qt jars do not let the cake fall out as 1/2pt and pt jars

Quart jars are used for making spawn. You can't use them for PF tek unless you plan to break the cake up with a sterile spoon or something and case it or use it as spawn. Either that or you can use it to fruit invitro.

perhaps use the same amount, but itll just take a while longer to take over...if your substrate is 'healthy' and ratio'd enough to stand such an amount of time for it colonize , all should be good....
a better idea would be perhaps to innoc. at more spots - less amount on each spot- just more spots....
hope it helps...
good luck bro.

Yes, it does work, but you can't fruit it the same way you would with smaller jars. All quart jars have a shoulder to them, wide-mouth or not. Cakes will not slide out of the jar, meaning you either need to:

A) Fruit invitro
B) Break up and use as spawn
C) Break up and case

Why doesnt somebody have them make ones without a shoulder? Theyd do it if people were buying them. They would only have to change there mold a tiny bit.
