*edit Actually, yes. But the rest of your life will probably be fairly short. I could decide to eat nothing for the rest of my life and succeed, but i'd be dying quite prematurely.

It wouldnt be worth living off psilocybin mushrooms, because you wouldnt be able to trip after a few days due to tolerance, even if you took a shit load, it would catch up with you in the end.

I figure you'd prolly trip your face off for the first 4 or 5 days, but after that your tolerance would be so high that you'd stop getting any real effects and you'd just end up dying from not eatting properly.

I'm sure many mycologists would agree shrooms are one of natures most nutritious foods. Not sure of their carb and protein makeup but you can certainly live on them. I am guessing your body would adapt to the chemicals just to survive so say goodbye to tripping cause you would defiantly get immune to it and tolerance would certainly catch up

I saw something on the news a few weeks ago bout a guy who wandered into some cave with nothing but a bottle of alcohol nad thoughts about killing himself. Well, he got lost in the caves and decided he DID want to live. He was lost in the pitch black cave for around 30 days. The reporter said he survived by licking moisture off of the walls and eating mushrooms. (I would presume they were not hallucinogenic of course, because if they were the cave wouldn't have been black, it would have been quite colorfull! )

maybe they actually were hallucinogenic and it was only a couple hours in the caves

You may become tolerant to the hallucinogenic effects. But Isn't psilocybin degraded to a serotonin inhibitor and thats why you don't sleep when you're tripping (apart from a select few cases I don't beleive)?
Would you become tolerant to having that in your head all the time.. Maybe you'd die from lack of sleep or something.

Honestly try to imagine unkowingly taking psychedelic mushrooms while already in such a [no doubt] terrified state. Especially if you're someone who doesn't have much experience with them.
I'd say he's lucky they were purely edible.

You'd probably get sleep. I'd say unless you're on something that really brings you up [meth] you couldn't stay awake for long enough to die. You'd eventually pass out I'd say. But I don't know for sure.
