same old, same old... san pedro post
    #3770031 - 02/12/05 05:06 AM (11 years, 9 months ago)

I know that a lot of people post in here asking simple questions or posting pics of their cacti for identification, but I don't intend to do that.

I just want to tell you that I got my T. Peruvianus (San Pedro Macho variety) today! I am very very excited. I bought a few bags of "cacti and succulent" soil and a large pot a few days ago. When it arrived at my door I immediately potted it. While I sat on my porch in the chilly night I poured and pressed the soil around the cactus and sang the chorus to 311's "sweet" which I posted on another thread...

"Buddy, buddy, buddy!
I know why you wander.
It's the sweetness of the ground,
the sweetness of the flowers!
You make your way,
on a cloudy day.
You've got to move
because the world is too sweet!
Yeah!"

I sang this repeatedly and began to hypnotize myself, rocking back and forth. I began to pray in this way, and showered love upon the cactus. I kissed the tip where no spines had grown yet. It way smooth and pleasent to kiss, just like the buddah's belly is pleasent to rub. I kept singing, but the lyrics eventually changed to...

[Singing to cactus] Buddy, buddy, buddy!
I know why you wander [the earth],
It's the sweetness of this ground [referring to the soil I was pressing]
It's the sweetness of your flowers [referring to it's beautiful and fragerant flowers]
I pave your way,
on this cloudy day [it wasn't really cloudy today, but it was damn cold!]
We've got to move [together with god] because our world,
is too sweet! [the great natural perfection]
Yeah! [yeah!... i mean... Amen!]

It was a very wonderful moment. And it's suprising how pretty this cactus actually is when you consider how simply it is shaped. It's also interesting to see the sacred geometry of the star of david when you look straight at the tip! It really is a magical cactus! LOL!

hopefully i can love it and grow it big and tall, so that one day it may love me back.

 Dude, I've already gotten so much enjoyment out of my San Pedro cutting, and it's been in dormancy since I got it 3 months ago. Just looking at this sacred cacti made both me and my girlfriend feel...connected maybe? Actually, I noticed the first sign of new growth last week. He is a 10 inch cutting from BBB and is enjoying his new home. And after his winter nap, he is ready and willing to grow big and strong!
Oh and 311 are great! what album is sweet from?

I know! I can't wait until I can notice tiny bits of growth, like the slow shifting of the tetonic plates or the stars or something.

I love 311! Sweet is off the self titled (the Blue) album. While that album is definitely a unique creation I would have to say that my favorite is Transistor (which I would recomend to anyone who has never heard 311 before or has only heard them on the radio, which is practically the same as never hearing them before). There is so much positivity and beautiful melodies on it! After listening to 311 for so long and seeing how wide their range is and how unique and creative they are, I consider them one of the greatest bands of our time, right up there with The Doors, Hendrix, etc. The proof of it is that they built their fan base from touring and from word of mouth. Until just a few years ago the only songs they had on the radio were "Down" and another one, the name of which alludes me at the moment (maybe one or two more, I can't remember). And they didn't even get played that much.

Sorry, didn't mean to switch the topics... but wait! This is my fucking thread! LOL!

Hey, by the way, I don't have to recut the bottom of the cutting before I plant it do I? I'm pretty sure I don't, but I just want to make sure.

My favorite 311 album is Grassroots or Music, but Transistor has some great tunes. I just love their positive attitude and carefree vibes.
Anyway, you should let the cutting callous over before planting. If you put a freshly cut piece in soil it might start to rot, so you have to let it heal over till it's rough to the tough (a couple weeks). Then plant it. Good luck!!

Yeah, I didn't cut it fresh. I didn't look at the bottom of it too closely when I first got it, but it looked a like it was tough and dried a little.

I got mine off of ebay! They sell lots of them there, for gardening purposes only of course. Don't buy off of people selling dried san pedro or selling them as drugs. You're liable to get the both of you in trouble.

Hey, why don't we start a specific San Pedro section so that these threads don't become to overbearing, annoying, and random. Then I wouldn't feel dumb for talking about something that "has been talked about in many different threads, many of different times". LOL! Hey any mods or administrator that read this, what do you think of the idea?

Tooltroll>> Of course those are fucking awsome albums, some of my other favorites! All the albums are awsome (except for from chaos, which was ok, and evolver, which fucking sucked!), but I can only say that transistor is my favorite, and after that I can't put the rest in an order of most to least favorite. They are so different that you just can't do it!
