Re-Inocculating bags?
    #3767051 - 02/11/05 04:45 PM (11 years, 9 months ago)

ok so the bags at my friends house (mycobags) are in the incubator (TiT) and last night he turned the heater up and it hit 97 degrees! they have been in there for about 3 days now, there is still no signes of growth on them. usually its only about 2 days 3 max before i see white myc. but there are no white spots...should i shake them? they seem pretty wet still, i dont think it dried it out or anything, do you think the temp killed the spores? or should i just wait a few more days? i know it seems like im worrying too much but i guess alot of you all know how bad you worry about fucking up, expecially after going to check on them and they are at 97 degrees... thanks for any info..

Peace :mushroom2:

Sure does. They should still germinate but it will affect times for sure..

most likely just drop the temp back down and wait - it should be all good, if your worried about drying it out - i think the bags are pretty well contained and it should prolly be fine since the bags are made for start-to-finish. if nothing happens in the next couples days, SHAKE the syringe - since you guys didnt shake beforehand it SHOULD/MIGHT have a higher spore-to-liquid concentration. so maybe this time you wouldnt have to use so much of the syringe - just be sure to mixx after innoculating.
just my 2 cents.

thanks for all the replies...so if i dont see any signes of myc in say 3 days, then i should shake the syringe (i have a spare) then put more in each one? thanks again. ive done it before but never had this happen before..

peace,
Alex :mushroom2:

No. If you dont see any signs in 3 weeks then you should throw out the bags and start some new substrate so as to not waste your spores.
