Sporeless Cubensis?

First grow ever. The initial pin was quite lightly colored in contrast to the proceeding pins of a darker tint (B+). The stipe was also notably thinner in comparison. Today the mushroom was picked, after the veil broke... producing a miniscule mushroom. The gills of this mushroom were white, apparently, sporeless. The stipe was squeeze and profusely stained greenish blue, the mycelia attached to the mushrooms base bruising azure blue. The white gills also stained green. I really wish I had a picture, unfortunately my digital camera is battery-less. I am posting this in regards to a claim made in the hunting forum mentioning white-gilled Cubensis. The mushroom was about 2 inches long, very lightly colored.

It's not that uncommon really. Occasionally a particular spore match will produce mutations, including sporeless 'shrooms. Clone that mother and see if you can produce a sporeless strain.

Not flaming here, just want to know: Why would anyone want a sporeless strain??? Also, how would you distribute it, or keep it going?? After several gens wouldn't it stop producing fruits?

The same way as most edibles are done, cultures.
It would be difficult to trade, but if you can do cultures well you can continue taking tissue sample from mushrooms. Sporeless mushrooms wouldnt make such a mess if your one of those who believes (like I do) that fully mature and opened up shrooms are just as potent..
You may have seen some pics of stuff I've grown...I have YET to make a spore syringe..everything I've done is from the original syringe and then cultures. I've grown MANY shrooms without using spores..

scat, i understand how your method works, but if he's to create a new sporeless-strain, it would need to be developed by several generations, no? but if there are no spores, then you would have to continue to clone from what you grew most recently, and wouldn't that eventually lead to non-fruiting b/c of too much cloning???

No shit I hate when it happens on it's own. I just had some awsome BM (cubes) and I mean fucking awsome, so I go to print and well needles to say the next batch took like three fucking prints to make a syringe.

it would need to be developed by several generations, no? It shouldnt. Thats the point of cloning the sporeless albino cubie..the fruits from that clone should fruit the same, sporeless and albino (I dont remember if we were talking about albinos in this but either way). Should start immediatly..if not it may take a few generations to get it to fruit consistant sporeless and albino and well.
>but if there are no spores, then you would have to continue to clone from what you grew most recently, and wouldn't that eventually lead to non-fruiting b/c of too much cloning??? I dont believe you can clone to much. I'm not 100% sure but you should be able to continue taking tissue samples from fresh mushrooms. Its not mycelium you are taking so it doesnt follow the degredation rules on grain to grain transfers Im sure youve read about. If you can clone to much, I have yet to experience it so it should be able to go on and on.
I'm just saying why one might want it and how it could be done..I wouldnt waste my time honestly..but for discussions sake..

i wasn't really referring to cloning albinos, just creating a sporeless strain from the one fruit he had that was sporeless... if the strain is not an albino strain, and does not normally fruit sporeless shrooms, then cloning it could conceivable produce fruits that produce spores, no? as to your point #2, thanx for pointing that at, i was actually thinking of myc degredation from g2g xfers. anybody have any info as for how many gens cloning will survive???

The reason for trying is not to obtain the strain, but simply to see if it can be done.
I enjoy experimenting with my hobby and trying different things.

It COULD yes..Its the same priciples be it albino, sporeless, huge, whatever the charecter is, when you clone it you should come up with the same charecteristics. So you may get a few mushrooms on the flush to produce spores, but most of the flush would be sporeless. Then taking a clone from that generation should reduce the spore containing mushrooms by more and so on and so on. But the first generation of the clone should produce mostly sporeless mushrooms. But it might not..I havnt experimented with it but in theory it could very well work. The original person who brought up the idea though said to just try it...it warrants a try...if you want that sort of goal anyway.
