Fruiting grain-based mycobags
    #3766428 - 02/11/05 01:51 PM (12 years, 5 months ago)

Is fruiting inside the bag possible when using corn?

I imagine you can but grains are better used for spawning a bulk substrate.

Im sure it is ok if the bag itself is a self contained micro enviroment bag with that filter patch and not just a spawn bag...

Spawn bags are environment bags, ever bag I have ever seen has a filter patch sold on it, thus all bags can be just cotained, but what is the point? The point of the filter patch is not only to allow gas exchange during friuting, the point is also to let pressure out while sterilizing or the bags seal will open from the pressure. Correct me if I am wrong here, but from what I have seen completely blocking the filter patch while sterilizing can cause the pressure to build up to high for the escaping vapors within the bag.

Bags are usually PCed unsealed. You fold an tape or clamp..then seal it once its cooled.
