optimum humidity for cakes vs casings

Can someone explain the different humidity needs of cakes and casings?
I know with casings (correct me if I am wrong)
95% until pinning
85-92% after pinning

All I have found about cakes is that you can keep it at 95%+ all the way through. Is that true?
