You should first go to your local homebrew supply store and buy the lightest colored powdered malt extract they have. Mix 4% (by weight) malt extract powder with distilled water (boil it, and then mix in the powder.


What do they mean by 4% by weight malt extract? What ratio is to be used in determining the 4%?

As in, 4 is to 100. 4 grams malt extract powder per 100 mls. H2O.

Thats inccorrect. Its 4% by weight. Meaning 4 grams of malt shit per 100 grams water (not mls). Millileters are a measure of volume, and we are doing weight. You cant mix them up like that.

Dude, it's the metric system.I believe a mililiter is a 1 gram amout of water..i think all the mesurement do neat tricks like that. i think thats why the world uses it...only us dumbass americans use that damn stupid other system...and we have the nerve to call it "standard"
