Rumor has it that spores falling on a casing surface can inhibit future flushes. The cat likes to let his fruits mature completely, and he has not noticed any ill effects from falling spores.

You don't lose potency by letting the veil tear. Most people just think it's a waste of time, because they say the mushrooms stop producing psilly when the veil tears. Although, i have never seen any evidence to back it up, and if it is true they don't really grow much after the veil tears so it would't really make a difference. I personally pick then whenever since i don't care and i haven't noticed an difference.

While the "psilly" production may stop at a certain stage in the mushrooms life cycle, the fruit still continues to grow. The ratio of inactive matter to active matter becomes rather high. *not advocating selling* But it would behoove an individual growing for profit to pick the fruits about when they stop producing "psilly" as it would make their batch appear more potent. Some personal growers like to see the fruits of their hard work blossom into full maturity. As a result such a person might dose off a slightly higher amount to achieve the same effects.

I have never seen any evidence that mushrooms stop producing psilly at a certain point. Please post a link or something. If your saying this from personal experience please say so.

the biggest reason to harvest early is to get clean prints...
if u harvest be4 the veil breaks u have a cap of sterile spores
and if u do it right its easy to get a clean print...
once the veil tears the spores are exposed to air and contams...

i thought i read somwhere on this board that if the spores drop it gives you better chance of getting contams, can anyone verify or deny this? i personally like to let my shrooms sporulate before picking just becuase i think they look alot more interesting when the caps open up.
