Filtered airpump + tit.
    #3763566 - 02/10/05 06:31 PM (19 years, 2 months ago)

I have a filtered airpump blowing in my tit. This does not blow much air at all though. Is this a bad idea or adding fresh air would be good. I have lid closed with small rubber tubing fitting inbetween lid and tub.

Are you talking about an incubator or fruiting chamber?

Incubator, bad idea. Fruiting chamber, good.

I presume this is an incubator TIT, (Some use TITs for fruiting when it is cold.)

Air will not be a major issue unless you see halted growth. (After about four weeks from spore inoculation, after about two weeks from mycelium inoculation.) If growth at that point seems stalled, then you would want some extra air, if you are not opening this every day to check on them. If you are a daily observationalist, then that pump is not a requirement.

(If stalling, you need to loosen the covers, or remove tape, or recover with sterile tyvek, quickly and in a clean area.)
