vermiculite

Howzit, Im about to case my 1st batch of tazmanian cubies and i want to know if it neccesary to sterilize the vermiculite and if i must can i do it in the microwave?

My aquantince pasturizes his vermiculite in the microwave. He mixes it in a tupperware then microwaves for about 5 mins on high and allows to cool. It will take some moisture out of it so you may have to add a little sterile water to the mix when it cools.
