This is roughly the order of investigated UFO reports that were identified (about 95%).
1. Venus
2. The moon
3. Airplanes
4. Helicopters
5. Satellites
6. Meteors
7. Blimps
8. High altitude missile tests
9. Birds
10. Balloons
11. Miscellaneous
12. Unidentified
So basically, AT LEAST 95% (and probably 100%) of ALL reports are misidentifications which doesn't give one faith in the reporting ability of people.
"Gee Swami what about the other 5%?" This is all the fantasy people can hold onto. The other 5% merely had insufficient information to identify, it doesn't mean any more than that.
Also note that bout 95% of sightings are at night when distance, color and outline are all indistinct so that the details may be filled in by imagination.
With all the powerful telescopes watching the night sky all around the world almost every night and not one single picture from a professional. What does that tell you? (No, not conspiracy, puh-lease! Astronomers do not sign a non-disclosure agreement nor is there a worldwide secret society.)
Of course, none of this has ANYTHING at all to do with living a better a life. Try staying grounded in reality, people!
Tren, why don't we start a "Wacky Shit" board?

This stuff belongs on the science board anyway.

Would you be happy if nobody believed in the alien nature of UFO's on this forum?

50% of America believes in UFOs and 50%+ also believed in Bush's lies that cost the USA $300,000,000,000 and thousands of lives. It is the same easily manipulated mindset that scares me. There would be no war on drugs if people looked at things logically and examined the facts with minimal bias.
You may accuse me of commingling, but most societal problems arise from blindness and false beliefs. Even though the UFO thang is relatively harmless it represents a weak mind. I see it as no different than believing evil spirits cause disease.

I'm not accusing you of anything. I just wanted to know how would you like the things to be here and elsewhere in society.

That is completely true, seriously! Apart from Aliens are real and thus some UFO's probably contain them or their scanning equiptment.

Maybe, except you have no evidence to support that assertion.

the ABC special on the JFK assassination last year (or was it in nov 2003?) was thoroughly bogus, although the mdma special was quite good. UFOs? I dont have an opinion, to be honest.

Speaking of the MDMA special, can someone send me a torrent link of that? I haven't seen it yet. Sorry for getting off-topic.

There was some good stuff on the JFK special, but there was no counterpoint such as:
1. Why they reposted the obviously fake Life photo of Oswald in his backyard with a rifle.
2. How Ruby got into a "secure" police station with a gun.
3. How a dozen witnesses died mysteriously within a few years of the assassination defying all odds.
4. How/why Kennedy's brain was "lost".
5. Why military doctors forcefully took over a civil autopsy.
..and so on.

yes.
not to mention the inaccuracies, assumptions, and the lack of counter-arguments against weak, walking-on-thin-ice "recreation" of dealey plaza and the assassination.

you heard about that scottish video game callled JFK: Reloaded ?
you play the part of Lee Harvey Oswald, up in the book suppository or where ever, and you take aim as the cavalcade comes along. you compete with the most dead-eye accurate shot over the internet against others, world-wide. they released the game on the 40th (I think?) anneversary of JFK's assassination.
one of the developers said that they made it in order to prove that there was no conspiracy. i.e, look how easy it is for Lee Harvey Oswald to take that nice clear shot from the window up there, child's play, if some 12-year-old can do it just as well or better on the internet...

yeah, I downloaded that awhile back. I believe the creators of the game were the same people shown on the ABC special. There are many inaccuracies and assumptions in their model.
Now, I do believe shots came from the book depot but I do believe there were other shots from the grassy knoll and perhaps another building forming a triangulation.
Oswald was involved but was unknowingly setup to be the one to take the fall.
one of the greatest classes I ever took in my college career was a history class on the JFK assassination. it was great.

This is true also, apart from I have a ton of anecdotal evidence and direct experience to support this claim.
Can you provide evidence that my claim is incorrect? No.

Nor can you prove that you have any basis for such a claim.
Its a hobby of mine to attempt to get to the bottom of popular local myths from lake monsters to ufo's and so far Ive yet to find any evidence of any of them even though I visit and spend a significant amount of time at supposed hotspots. So far all I seem to find evidence of is natural optical illusion based on normal objects.
Ive also extensively studied well known documented cases of UFOs.What I find amazing is that out of hundreds upon hundreds of well documented cases NOT one person managed to get UFO fragments from supposed crashes. No one managed to get any sort of close up shot of a craft despite many claims of being close enough to touch the craft even though the equipment to videotape or photograph is nearby or in hand. Most accounts are supposedly witnessed by a small group as in 4 or less people or by individuals.
In 58 years of well documented claims and the millions of undocumented claims NOT one manage to snap a good photo or obtain a single shred of proof. In the claims that UFOs visited the earth for many millenia there is still not one shred of foreign/unusual material found in caves or archaelogicaldigs or etc.
This is uncalculable odds that UFOs have beaten. So which is more likely?Optical illusions based on natural phenomena and natural objects and hoaxes or aliens lucked out and beat a more than 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 to one odds?
