mycobags...

err i know i should know this but i'm gonna go ahead and clarify for myself. mycobags are just bags, you fill them with substrate and then pc right? then inject through the filter patch?

and you use an impulse sealer to seal off the bags? should the bags have air in them (not vaccum sealed)? it'd be nice to get close to the full liquid volume of my pc (6 quarts) rather than 4 pint jars.

1) Yes
2) I think that most usually have most of the air out for gas expanision if I'm right.

there is a bit more to it that that...

add your substrate, fold and clip/tape the top so it protects the filter from
moisture during sterilization, PC as usual and after it cools, remove the bags
and seal them, vacuum sealing doesnt make a difference, by the time it fruits it
will inflate.

I inoculate through the bags wall, never the patch, I cover my hole with tape
after inoculation, and I make sure everything gets wiped with alcohol before
I puncture the side of the bag.

i bought some of those premade rye mycobags. Do you have to do anything to them or just keep them warm and air them out.

I was just at mushmush and it said the yeilds with bage and jars are substantially less than with "conventional" fruiting methods. Should I build one of those fruiting chambers for the thing in the bag after it is colonized?

ideally yes, IT would require more work and more reading but is expondentially better. What you're gonna want to do once the bag is colonized is break it up into small chunks and case it, then place in a fruiting chamber. Read on the home site under casing for more information.

it is advisable, let your first flush fruit in the bag, from there I recomend casing the substrate for some nice yeilds... I usualy pack my own bags and use
about 2-3lbs of substrate in each, the fruits are large and after casing, its
more than enough to keep me happy for a long time

would it do me any benefit to put like 1.5 spore syringes into one bag or would that just be wasting spores?

I'm assuming you mean 1 and a half full syringes not 1.5cc...I would not put that much in a grow bag because the moisture content would be to high that's 15cc of water your adding to the bag....I'm a newbie but I made that mistake once before using a full syringe to one bag.....colonization was slow because of pools of water in the bag.

so p1, mycobags aren't used for colonizing a bulk substrate?

it would be a complete waste as it may throw off your water content and prevent full colonization and fruiting... I never use more than 2cc of spore solution for a bag, most of the time I only use .5cc
