I just thought this would be an interesting poll for PA&L
I lean slightly to the left of center and I donated:
You may choose only one
I lean slightly to the right of center and I donated:
You may choose only one

I donated $25 to Howard Dean's campaign in September '03. I donated $5 to the Tsunami disaster, it was the minimum amount the red cross's website would allow. To me, there is shit way worse than that going on in the Sudan and noone seems to give a shit for whatever reason.

sorry, i meant *at least* slightly to the left/right. just because many do not want to categorize themselves as just 'left' or 'right', 'liberal' or 'conservative'.

I lean so far to the left, I fell over.. Beyond that, i didn't donate shit, because if you do some background checks on the Red Cross, so much of the money that is siphoned through their organization is never recieved by the victims... do a search on the internet if you want to verify it.

mua ha ha. I donated 0$ to them, but only because I didn't have enough money left over after I donated $400 to my bank account.

Do dollars taken from my pocket by force and given to the "relief" effort against my will and the law of the Constitution count? I'm not sure how to calculate my percentage of that.

The company I work for donated $500,000. Not bad, i'd say.

According to many apologists for state coercion, paying taxes IS voluntary because of the 'love it or leave it' mentality they are suddenly enamored with when confronted by moral arguments against taxation.

And they then proceeded to donate 100,000 to Hamas.

$100 for me. i figured if i can buy myself a nic new camera i can buy some people somewher else somthing.

i agree that there is a lot worse going on and that no one else seems to give a shit. i try and help out locally with homelss people. my old english teacher is a neat guy. him and a bunch of students that volounteer go to various countries (haiti 3 years ago...dunno wher ethey been since) and went for 3 weeks to do anyhting that was eneded to help out. the school and families would do things to get money and doante food clothes etc. its suprising how much stuff they got a hold of then all teh money.

these kids paid on average $2500 each to go there and be dirty little bitches as some may call them. teh rest fo the school did things liek fundraise, bring in food (also did food drives), thing slike "shave my head for $20" type things. also teh local buisnesses helped out with "matches" and donate %1 of your bill typ eof things. that type of shit is about the only thing that makes me feel good about our race.

i think that the purpose of this thread defeats the fact that people donated "selflessly". If it was selfless, why would you post the amount, other than for some recognition for it...right?

a) this poll was anonymous
b) this website is anonymous
c) there is no such thing as a 'selfless' voluntary action. But that is a discussion more for S&P
d) who gives a fuck if someone wants recognition for giving money?!? do you think victims in southeast asia care whether someone gave them money for their survival anonymously or with recognition. hell, if it will mean anyone will give $100 to charity, i'll get on my hands and knees and give them a bow and a thank you right now. what stupid principles you have. pull your head out and live in reality.
