Mycelium taking off
    #3755219 - 02/09/05 10:47 AM (11 years, 9 months ago)

I knew this "one guy" who told me the below information:

Inoculated grow bag with 10cc of Cambo (whoops)
It has been 4 days since inoculation
Bag is already 30% colonized......

Any one ever see Cambos take of in growth like this before? Or is it because of the high content of spores introduced? On another unrelated question...once bag is fully colonized.. what are the steps to fruit inside the bag ?(like temp, light, etc)

The spores probably had some to do with it. Doing that can sometimes throw off your water content but you may not have had problems. Water content problems sometimes dont show up until the end of colonization too so your not fully out of the clear on that. Cambos were pretty fast IME though. Temp and light stays the same, 6-18 hours of light, 73-77 degrees (give or take)

Not much. To moist will cause water to pool which may allow contams a better place to grow and the water pooling can cause jars to stop colonizing to the bottom where the water sits toward the end. You cant flip grain jars because of the tyvek, but if you turn them at an angle on their side so the water isnt sitting where th uncolonized portions are, it can usually finish up..so flip/move your bags so the water pooling up is sitting where the colonized parts are. There may not be water buildup yet, it may happen. It may not. It usually doesnt unless it takes a while for the jars to colonize (I keep saying jars because I use them instead of bags usually) and it sounds like yours are going quick but I'm not sure about the injection.

Of course I think up to 3 cc's per quart isnt SOOO bad so if you got just a little over 3 quarts in there water content shouldnt have been altered as much as if you stuck the whole syringe in a single quart.

Either way, I wouldnt worry, chances are pretty good you'll be ok from the sounds of things..I just always bring up any possible problems people may run into and describe why, as best I can, so that you, and anyone who reads the post, can use the info, be it now or in the future.

i would think 10'cc of spores would be adding wayyy to much moisture to your bags even when using a large one, I injected 4cc's into a small mycobag and the difference in moisture was very very very noticable it didnt pool but it scared me there for a bit since Iv lost many jars to contams this way.

I wouldnt put more than 3cc's into a bag, if you have optimum temp/RH constantly it will do better for your little guys than anything else :peace:
