Tobacco and health - Low Controlled Amount
    #3754865 - 02/09/05 06:55 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

I believe in moderation, including tobacco products.

I smoke at the most 4 cigarettes a week (avg 3) and maybe 3 cigars within a month. Considering this small amount, what would the health risks be compared to the studies shown? Ive noticed most studies are based on multiple cigarettes a day (up to 5 a day). Ive had this pattern for a few years now, and have never felt the urge to jump over this amount. Just kinda popped up on me...

Yes, I'm curious about this too. I smoke roughly 3 packs of cigarettes a year, and am not sure if I should be in the least concerned. I would ask this question in the health forum.

the body has the ability to eliminate small amounts of cancerous matter on it's own if allowed the time. I think though that so many more factors go into the equation than just being a smoker, like living in an urban or rural area and owning a woodstove. My aunt recently got a little cancer on one of her lungs - living in a rural area and never smoking anything. The doctor says that woodstoves are just as bad as smoking a pack a day.
