overcooked rye?
    #3752720 - 02/08/05 10:15 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

what does overcooked rye look like?

I took it out of the PC to give it a shake, and the top looks dark and dry

"I like cigarettes, Miss Taggart. I like to think of fire held in a man's hand. Fire, a dangerous force, tamed at his fingertips. I often wonder about the hours when a man sits alone, watching the smoke of a cigarette, thinking. I wonder what great things have come alive from such hours. When a man thinks, there is a spot of fire alive in his mind---and it is proper that he should have the burning point of a cigarette as his one expression."

Dark and dry... Yup... Overcooked.

Better than over-simmered, but still won't work. :frown:

I just checked'em again and the water content in perfect. All the grains are wet. Just a little on the dark side.

The grains on top will look dark and dry (comparitivly speaking), especially if you were trying the measure it out method..thats what happened to me when I did it. After a shake they should even out and look pretty normal. Mine didnt but I think I used different water amounts since I didnt have a link to Annos site at the time..and wasnt sure about the ratios...

yeah it was all fairly dark though... looked nothing like magash's or Anno's rye after it was PC'd

Maybe overcooked then. Maybe to little water? If you did like 200 and 200 try 200 rye and 220 water or something..

Or you can just go back to soaking and simmering  I want to get the measurment thing to work for myself so I'm pushin for ya!

After I shook it, the water content looked great. It was a little more wet at the bottom, but water wasn't pooling up anywhere. Just the rye was dark. It wasn't light like magash's and Anno's.

I used 250ml rye to 200ml of water
